The New White House Council on Women and Girls
The buzz began to circulate earlier this week regarding the new council at the White House. Yesterday President Obama made it official. With Valerie Jarrett at his side, the President spoke about the need for the council and it’s mission.
“The mission of the Council will be to provide a coordinated federal response to the challenges confronted by women and girls to ensure that all Cabinet and Cabinet-level agencies consider how their policies and programs impact women and families.”
The announcement is timely as it coincides with the celebration of the national women’s history month. There are many people greatly excited by the formation of the council. More than a watch dog, expect this council to spearhead programs truly rooted in the success and well being of women and girls. Keep your ear out for more information and we will certainly forward it your way as it becomes available.
